What are we about?

St. John’s strives to be a place where youth in 6th-12th grades can grow in faith with friends under the guidance of awesome faithful mentors.  We aim to have fun and care for one another while learning to live Christian lives together.

Sign Up to Help With Easter Breakfast

St. John’s Youth host a community breakfast on Easter morning featuring egg bakes provided by members of the congregation. How will you help this year? Whether you’ll be here for Easter this year or visiting elsewhere, please help out by donating food ahead of time or helping with set-up or the big event that weekend. Sign up below and contact Kristin with questions!

Parent Drivers Needed

This spring the middle and high school youth will be taking two field trips on April 8 and April 15. If you can be a driver, please contact Kristin.

Summer 2026 Serve Boldly Service Trip - Milwaukee!

Middle and high school students will travel June 21 – 26 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a service trip through Serve Boldly.

    Confirmation

    Wednesdays, September-May, 6:15-7:30 pm

    6th-8th Grade – in Fellowship Hall

    Large group teaching of the story of scripture through curriculum led by the pastors and staff, followed by smaller group discussion time, guided by faith-filled adults.

    J-Term Collaborative Confirmation

    January is a chance for the ELCA youth in Northfield to come together and explore a variety of topics through the lens of faith.

    Sunday Youth Group

    Sundays, September-May, 9:45-10:30 am in the Youth Room

    On Sunday mornings, during the school year, middle school and high school youth gather together to talk about their week, explore faith questions, and connect with each other. And, of course, there are delicious treats!

    Summer Trips

    Each summer our youth take a trip together. This past summer, both the high school and middle school youth from St. John’s, St. Peter’s, and First UCC traveled jointly to camp Christikon in Montana!

    High School Youth Group

    Wednesdays, September-May, 6:15-7:30 pm in the Youth Room

    High School youth meet to connect with each other and explore what it means to live a life rooted in Christ. Each week, we gather to connect around topics of faith and life, and to spend time together, fostering friendships with one another.

    NOTE: 9th-grade youth are expected to attend this group as part of the Confirmation curriculum.

    9th Grade Mentors/Mentees

    Each student in 9th grade is paired with an adult mentor from the congregation to walk with them in exploring their faith and connecting it to everyday life.

    10th Grade Affirmation of Baptism

    In the fall of their 10th grade year, families, mentors, and the congregation celebrate with students as they affirm their baptism (the celebration that is often called Confirmation)
