Purpose of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
All women of St. John’s are welcome and invited to participate in any or all of the service projects, small groups or monthly meetings.
To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.
General meetings of St. John’s women are on the first Thursday of most months at 1:00 p.m.
Bible Study Leaders meet on Monday at Noon the week that Circles meet.
Small Groups meet the second week of each month (the week following the first Thursday of the month).
The WELCA magazine, Gather for Faith and Action , contains the bible study guide used by circles as well as a variety of articles about current faith issues. Subscriptions or questions, call 1-800-328-4648. Cost is $15 for 10 issues.
