“Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
St. John’s seeks to provide comfort to those grieving the loss of a loved one by assisting with all funeral preparations and sharing the peace and hope of the Risen Christ through the congregation’s grief support ministry.
When a loved one dies, please notify the church (507-645-4429) as soon as possible. If it is your desire, a pastor will come to the home or hospital as soon as possible. When it is convenient, usually after you have met with the funeral director, a pastor will want to meet with you to help you plan the service. Any of the pastors, schedules permitting, are available to help with the funeral or memorial service. You may feel free to ask for any of the pastors to preside or assist at the funeral or memorial service.
St. John’s provides grief support following the death of a loved through grief resources, Stephen Ministers, St. John’s Visitors, and through the grief support groups offered through the Northfield Grief Support Coalition. Contact Barb Knaak at 664-0444, for more information.
The St. John’s Columbarium provides a permanent place on the church premises for the inurnment of the cremated remains of St. John’s members and their families. Contact the Church Office for more information on the Columbarium.
